In a colossal example of the arrogance of the academy, the Maryland University System has deemed students disposable and “professors” dear.
So, let us get this right: The students, whose parents pay the professors, are unworthy of the protections armed officers, armed and trained teachers, and armed and trained students with concealed weapons can offer, but the same parents buy expensive protective gear for said teachers.
From USA Today, a paper little read for big reasons: A federal judge in Georgia has thrown out race discrimination claims by a former Savannah restaurant manager whose lawsuit against Paula Deen ended up causing the celebrity cook to lose a big slice of her culinary empire.
Lisa Jackson sued Deen and her brother, Bubba Hiers, last year, saying she was subjected to sexual harassment and racist attitudes during the five years she worked at their restaurant, Uncle Bubba’s Seafood and Oyster House. But U.S. District Court Judge William T. Moore Jr. ruled Monday that Jackson, who is white, has no standing to sue them for race discrimination.
In his ruling, judge Moore said that though others may have allegedly faced discrimination, Jackson can’t sue since she was not one of the victims.
“While Plaintiff may have faced significant challenges in managing a workplace allegedly permeated with racial discrimination, her difficulties do not fall within the zone of interests sought to be protected by Title VII [of the Civil Rights Act of 1964] and cannot support a claim for racial discrimination under that stature,” he said, according to the court order obtained by NBC News.
“We are pleased with the court’s ruling today that Lisa Jackson’s claims of race discrimination have been dismissed,” Deen’s spokeperson Elana Weiss Rose told TODAY. “As Ms. Deen has stated before , she is confident that those who truly know how she lives her life know that she believes in equal opportunity, kindness and fairness for everyone.”
The ruling leaves intact Jackson’s sexual harassment claims.
The Food Network and other business partners dropped Deen after she acknowledged using racial slurs in the past during questioning by Jackson’s lawyers.
The left-wing mainstream media, yes, yes, that’s redundant, is so corrupt that occasionally even one of their own is embarrassed enough or, perish the thought, ethical enough to speak truth to editing. Juror B-29 didn’t say Zimmerman got away with murder; B-29 is clearly confused about intentional killing which Zimmerman committed and killing with malice, what he didn’t do; and B-29 didn’t understand that manslaughter is a reckless disregard of the consequences springing from an escalation of another event. OK, she wasn’t so confused as she was dumb.
Nonetheless, why does the left-wing media have to lie to tell a story? Why do “Progressives” lie if their truths are betters?
We could write endlessly abut the State of Floriduh against George Zimmerman the “white-Hispanic,” or “self-identified Hispanic,” or “multiracial Hispanic” as the press called him while laboring to create racial strife. And, if you think the mainscream media wasn’t and isn’t fostering tension, ask yourself why Barry Hussein Soetoro Obama isn’t referred to as a “white Black-guy, or “self-identified Negro,” or “multiracial African-American?” And ask the same about any number of prominent people in our large society, many who are part of our daily routines. But all of this is for another time.
George Zimmerman was acquitted because the lead prosecutor Bernie de la Rionda (who appears to be a whiter-Hispanic) said after the case, ” “Who was following who? (sic) Isn’t that what this case boils down to?” “I respect the jury’s verdict, but really what it boils down to is, a kid minding his own business being followed by a stranger, and I would submit that’s when it started.”
If Bernie de la Ronda walked aimlessly through our neighborhood we would follow him, we would ask him his reason for being here and if he turned on us, we would defend, to his death if necessary. Mr. de la Rionda would do the same in his realm. That he can’t recognize or admit the obvious is the flaw that brought this case and a near injustice. Very simply, it is not illegal to “follow.” It is illegal to rain violence as a reaction to non-physical threat. Trayvon’s over-reaction, that of a sassy 17 year-old, was largely the reason for this rat’s breakfast.
And nothing more to say now. Other than, the jury did it’s job . . .
