President Obama yesterday vowed again to shut down the detention center in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. First, he whined about how urgent it is, how it must be done before, thankfully, he leaves office, and how everyone should agree with him because he’s right, and so damned smart. I ask, what has done for seven and a half years given that this was his first order of business on the day he was immaculated?! Golf must have intervened . . .

His “logic” is that the use of “Gitmo” is antithetical to American values; that Gitmo is a recruiting tool for Jihadists; and that Gitmo is too expensive at $5 million a year – YES! you read right, MILLION.

In order, I ask:

Is it an American value to use highly sophisticated weapons to vaporize Jihadists rather than capturing them live, gaining information, and returning them to their families once rehabilitated? Mr. Obama wantonly annihilates Jihadists, including American citizens, without arrest, trial, or conviction. That’s American? Really?

He has produced no evidence of Gitmo’s lure of young Muslims to Jihad and, in fact every single survey done in attempting to measure the importance of stimuli to Jihad demonstrates that Gitmo does not even register among Radical Islamists. And, apparently in a flight of fancy Mr. Obama imagines the Jihadists to wake tomorrow and respond: “Shazzam! They moved our Brothers from Gitmo to a SuperMax prison in Colorado. They’ll be happy. That Mr. Obama is one nice guy. End of argument, problem solved. We can call off Jihad.”

As for $5 million? That’s a weekend at Bernie’s . . .
