Mike Morrell defends: “C.I.A. is simply incompetent . . . ” Oh.

Watching Mike Morrell, former Deputy Director and Acting Director of the Central Intelligence Agency, one cringes. He first argued that there were no political considerations in how reporting and analysis of the events occurring in Benghazi were conveyed to the White House or State Department – and presumably to the public. Not an hour later, he admitted that he personally edited out of memoranda directed to the White House, knowledge that the State Department had consciously ignored requests from the Libya diplomatic stations pleading for increased security.  His reason? He wanted to spare the State Department, “embarrassment.”  Where does he now work? With Hillary Clinton’s colleagues from the State Department.

More stunning is his insistence that his analysts disbelieved, and he agreed with his analysts, witnesses in the field, those who were reporting real-time in theater, those who were experiencing the event. From the beginning, they asserted aggressively that the attacks were not related to the video as claimed by Susan Rice.  Nor did the field representatives including the C.I.A. Station Chief believe the attacks were the result of a protest run amok. They were quite clear early on: The attacks were acts of terrorism driven by al Qaeda and its affiliates. Instead of sharing this information, his analysts, 4,000 miles away, simply chose to dismiss their colleagues, the “throw them under the bus” meme of modern “Progressive” cleverness.  And, Morrell agreed with his analysts now using them as shields as be proudly takes now responsibility for four DEAD AMERICANS.

So, as is true of this Administration always, there is never an admission of venality. Rather, about everything, they proudly claim INCOMPETENCE!  Comforting . . .
