P.O.P., nee G.O.P.

The Grand Old Party rapidly approaches insignificance . . . In her column (GOP CRAFTS PLAN TO WRECK THE COUNTRY, LOSE VOTERS) our friend Ann Coulter cites myriad polls aggregated by the indomitable Phyllis Schlafly. (Ms. Coulter notes: The report is still embargoed, but someone slipped me a copy, and it’s too important to wait.)

It incorporates “surveys from the Pew Research Center, the Pew Hispanic Center, Gallup, NBC News, Harris polling, the Annenberg Policy Center, Latino Decisions, the Center for Immigration Studies and the Hudson Institute.”  It is simply a masters thesis on how to destroy the Grand Old Party, midgetizing it, at least at the national level into the Petite Old Party.

It is clear that the only thing gained for Republicans is support from the Chamber of Commerce, a support in decline partly because the very illegal immigrants the Chamber empowers hate business which the Chamber empowers.

Even the Conservatives in Congress, have, as they are wont to do, succumbed to the lure of the left, the desire to be written about favorably in the New York Slimes and Washington comPost and be invited to all the right parties, and then mocked.  One needs only to look at the experience of John McCain who slavishly curried favor and received laudatory treatment until he became the candidate. Or more recently, Chris Christie who supposedly played the leftist media (a redundancy) like Yo Yo Ma, only to be stalled in a tunnel on his way to 2016.

We have tipped.
